Ancy Thomas, a perioperative nurse at Plainview Hospital, and her daughter, Stacie Thomas, a telemetry nurse at Syosset Hospital, have been honored with the DAISY Award on the same day. This award is a prestigious recognition for nurses providing exceptional and compassionate care. It was established by the DAISY Foundation in remembrance of J. Patrick Barnes, who succumbed to an autoimmune disease in 1999.

Ancy has gained recognition for her dedication to patient advocacy in the operating room. Her commitment and kindness have greatly influenced her colleagues and the many patients she has served.

Stacie continues the legacy of compassionate care established by her mother. As a telemetry nurse, she ensures each patient feels valued during critical times.

“We are incredibly proud to have both Ancy and Stacie as part of our hospital family,” said Kerri Scanlon, RN, FAAN, president of Plainview and Syosset hospitals. "Their dedication to compassionate patient care and unwavering commitment to the nursing profession sets a high standard for all of us. To have a mother and daughter recognized on the same day speaks volumes about the quality of care they provide and the legacy of excellence they are creating together.”

For Ancy and Stacie Thomas, nursing represents more than a career; it reflects the family’s deeply rooted values.
