Earlier today, the United States Congress approved the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), a recurring legislative measure that has been passed every Congress since 2014. This legislation provides authorizations for projects related to the nation's waters, harbors, coastlines, and coastal communities.
The latest WRDA includes several initiatives intended to benefit New York’s 4th Congressional District and its surrounding areas. Among these is a new feasibility study aimed at evaluating additional beach groin replacement in Long Beach. The act will also expedite the completion of Nassau County’s Back Bays Coastal Storm Risk Management Project and authorize the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to initiate work on smaller projects in the New York-New Jersey area.
Rep. D’Esposito expressed support for the bill stating, “Representing a coastal district, I was excited to join colleagues on both sides of the aisle in advancing this Congress’s Water Resources Development Act.” He added that “this bill’s provisions will greatly benefit Nassau County, New York’s 4th Congressional District, and America as a whole.”
