Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) honored East Rockaway student Joseph Romano as a Future Leader of New York State award winner. This award is presented to students who exhibit leadership skills and community spirit, along with an awareness of the responsibilities of being a good citizen in today’s society. The unique award commends young people who have shown a strong sense of civic involvement, social conscience, and an enthusiastic attitude toward making the world a better place.

"The future of New York is in good hands with young people like Joseph leading the way. He is an excellent leader among his peers at school and in the community and always goes the extra mile in whatever he does. I was so proud to present him with this award, and I cannot wait to see what he accomplishes in the future as he prepares to attend the University of Alabama next year," said Curran.
