Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-21st A.D.) honored Malverne 8th grader Arya Roopnarine as a Future Leader of New York State award winner. This award is presented to students who exhibit leadership skills and community spirit, along with an awareness of the responsibilities of being a good citizen in today’s society. The unique award commends young people who have shown, through their actions, a strong sense of civic involvement, social conscience, and an enthusiastic attitude toward making the world a better place.

“The future of New York is in good hands with young people like Arya Roopnarine leading the way. She is an excellent leader among her peers at school and in the community and always goes the extra mile in whatever she does. I was so proud to present her with this award, and I cannot wait to see what she accomplishes in the future,” said Curran.
