Kim Lichtenstein, a resident of Sands Point, New York, embodies the essence of a community-minded neighbor. Balancing family life, faith, and environmental stewardship with an active role in her community, Ms. Lichtenstein is both a devoted wife and mother to four daughters and an engaged citizen.

Among her many contributions to the community, Ms. Lichtenstein works with Port’s Residents Forward and plays a pivotal role in Let's Walk Port Washington. This pedestrian wayfinding signage program encourages residents to walk more within their community. The initiative has been praised for making Port Washington healthier, safer, and more vibrant.

Ms. Lichtenstein also utilized her professional skills as a CPA during the COVID-19 pandemic by volunteering as a bill payer with the Family and Children’s Association. Her efforts provided crucial assistance to seniors during this challenging time. In response to the increased vulnerability of many during the pandemic, she became a Court Appointed Special Advocate with the EAC Network. In this role, she assists Family Court in securing safe, nurturing homes for children in need.

In addition to these roles, Ms. Lichtenstein advocates for National Walk to School Day which promotes health benefits as well as community and environmental advantages of walking or biking to school regularly. Her work empowers young people to reduce their carbon footprint while emphasizing exercise and environmental stewardship.

Ms. Lichtenstein's philanthropic activities extend beyond her immediate community through initiatives like The Cinderella Project. Alongside her daughter Violet, they collect and distribute prom dresses, shoes, and accessories to students who cannot afford them. Their actions underscore the transformative power of generosity and compassion.

Following the October 7 massacre in Israel, Ms. Lichtenstein organized Port Washington’s Empty Shabbat Table event that drew attention to hostages still held in Gaza. She continues her involvement with UJA and various local synagogues.

Through these actions and others not mentioned here, Ms. Lichtenstein exemplifies a life of compassion and empathy for neighbors both near and far. Her efforts have earned the admiration of her community, contributing significantly to the vitality of Port Washington and the broader Long Island community.
