Charles John Kilbride enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and retired with the rank of Major. As both an enlisted Marine and Marine officer, Mr. Kilbride served at bases across the nation, including Quantico, Virginia; Jacksonville, North Carolina; Twentynine Palms, California; Albany, Georgia; and Long Island, New York. In his hometown area, his leadership as a Marine recruiter inspired many New Yorkers to enlist. He was frequently recognized as the Marine of the Quarter and successfully recruited numerous honor man graduates from Parris Island.

For his service to the nation, Mr. Kilbride received multiple medals and commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter Rifle.

Mr. Kilbride’s influence extended beyond his military career. For over 30 years, he has led the annual USMC Toys for Tots campaign on Long Island. Each holiday season, he organizes Marines and volunteers to collect and distribute new toys to at-risk children in the community. The initiative has distributed hundreds of thousands of toys over the years. Their efforts have also reached children with autism and cerebral palsy by providing them with enabling toys.

He has coordinated this program alongside various organizations such as Nassau and Suffolk Police departments, PBA, Detective Association, Superior Officer’s Association, Court Officers Association, U.S. Post Office, local fire departments and businesses like 7-11.

Mr. Kilbride's commitment is inspired by his father and grandfather's legacy of service. He continues to be a source of strength for New Yorkers in the Metro area and Long Island communities. His motto remains: “Service to one another makes for strong families and a strong Nation.”
