Stephen T. Grogan, a lifelong resident of Lynbrook and an Army veteran, has dedicated his life to serving both his community and country. As the historian and Public Information Officer for American Legion Post 335, Mr. Grogan ensures that the stories and sacrifices of his fellow veterans are remembered and honored. His own military service includes more than five years of active duty stationed at West Point during the Vietnam era.

The legacy of service runs deep in Mr. Grogan's family, with both his parents being World War II veterans. His mother served in the United States Marines, and his father in the United States Navy. Born on Veterans Day, November 11, Mr. Grogan embodies a commitment to duty and country that extends beyond his own service.

Mr. Grogan's contributions to his community extend beyond his military service. He holds a Master's degree from CW Post and has been an active member of the Lynbrook Fire Department for over 50 years. In his time with the Department, he has served as a former Captain, Honorary Chief, and currently works as its Public Information Officer. Mr. Grogan's advocacy led Nassau County to honor veterans who are also volunteer firefighters by issuing a veteran pin worn on their Fire Department uniforms—a policy later adopted by many counties across New York State.

A former Village Trustee in Lynbrook, Mr. Grogan continues to serve his community as Vice Chairman of Nassau County Firefighters Operation Wounded Warrior, a nonprofit charity formed to assist wounded warriors. He was also honored as Lynbrook Firefighter of the Year by State Elks Lodge No. 1.

In addition to his community service, Mr. Grogan is a retired federal agent, having served 35 years with the U.S. Department of Justice. He has been married to his wife Jane for over 50 years, and they have two grown sons—Stephen and Brian—as well as two grandchildren: Abigail and Sean.
