Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz (R,C-Oyster Bay) and Assemblywoman Taylor Darling, along with Toni Taylor, Co-founder, and Executive Director of the Allergy Advocacy Association, held a joint press conference on the Million Dollar Staircase in Albany today. The press conference focused on the legislation proposed by Blumencranz and Darling known as the First Responder Epinephrine Preparedness Initiative (EPI) Act.
Blumencranz expressed his pride in co-sponsoring the bill, stating, "I am very proud to have co-sponsored this bill that will actively save New York lives." He emphasized the importance of the initiative in addressing the prevalence of allergies and the potential dangers of anaphylaxis. Blumencranz highlighted the need to train and equip first responders to effectively respond to anaphylactic emergencies by providing them with easy access to epinephrine and proper administration knowledge.
The proposed EPI Act aims to establish the First Responder Epinephrine Access Program, which would mandate the Department of Health to provide funding to first responder agencies for training employees in epinephrine use. Additionally, the program would ensure that relevant employees are equipped with epinephrine to assist individuals in an anaphylactic emergency.
Blumencranz and Darling are committed to advocating for the legislation to protect the health and well-being of New York communities. Blumencranz reiterated their dedication by stating, "Assemblywoman Darling and I will continue fighting for this legislation to safeguard the health and well-being of New York communities."
