Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz (R,C-Oyster Bay) recently emphasized the importance of addressing mental health awareness in schools during a gathering in Albany. The assemblyman, along with other state lawmakers, discussed concerns over school safety and security in light of recent school shootings.
Blumencranz stressed, “We cannot allow mental health issues in children and teens to be swept under the rug, nor can we allow students and teachers to be left unprotected when entering the school building.” He further added, “My condolences to the families of those who have been impacted by school shootings. It’s time we work together to form the necessary solutions that will prevent these shootings and protect innocent lives from being taken.”
The discussion also revolved around proposed solutions such as making mental health services more accessible for students and increasing the presence of law enforcement in schools to ensure the safety of students and staff.
The assemblyman's call for action highlights the urgent need to prioritize mental health awareness and safety measures in educational institutions to prevent tragedies and safeguard the well-being of students and educators.
