The sixth annual MEC Big Read welcomes poet/scholar/author Hafizah Augustus Geter. Her memoir, The Black Period: On Personhood, Race and Origin, crosses continents, grapples with white supremacy and explores how the origin of stories we inherit can be remade.
The book features original artwork from the author’s father, Tyrone Geter. MEC Assistant Professor Darrel Holnes will join Geter in this virtual conversation.
