22 percent of applicants to the United States Merchant Marine Academy were admitted for fall 2018

At the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 99 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 82 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Kings Point enrolled 1,015 students in fall 2018, including 996 in undergraduate and 19 in graduate programs, data shows. 1.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

9 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York, and 90 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (77 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (8 percent).

The school admitted 22 percent of the 1,863 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 69 percent enrolled.
