Congressman Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04) celebrated the formal unveiling of plans to construct a new veterans housing development in Island Park. The project will feature 42 apartments built on the site of the abandoned Long Beach Motor Inn on Austin Boulevard and will be New York State’s first veterans village. This initiative aims to provide essential resources for over 100 Long Island veterans currently facing homelessness.

D’Esposito, a native of Island Park, recommended the property to Nassau County officials and Tunnel to Towers staff as a potential site for the development. He has pledged to continue engaging with local stakeholders as construction progresses.

“Helping neighbors in need who served our nation in the armed forces should always remain a priority at all levels of government, and this veterans housing project will go a long way towards ensuring that nobody who wore America’s uniform into battle is forced to sleep on the streets,” said D’Esposito. “I commend Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman and the County Legislature for the generous donation of this property to Tunnel to Towers, and I will continue working collaboratively with all stakeholders involved to ensure this project is carried out successfully and the future residents are made to feel at home in our Island Park community.”
