On Monday, June 17, Congressman Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04) hosted a ceremony recognizing local nurses as part of ongoing National Nurses Week celebrations in Merrick, New York.
During National Nurses Week, which lasted from May 6 to May 12 this year, Congressman D’Esposito invited Long Island neighbors to nominate nurses who have gone above and beyond while serving their communities. After receiving submissions from the community, 16 local nurses were selected to receive the distinguished congressional nurses award. A celebration for the honored nurses was held at the Merrick Golf Course Clubhouse on Monday evening to recognize their contributions across NY-04. One of the nurses recognized was Stephanie Diller, widow of slain NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller.
"I was honored to recognize some of these incredible local healthcare heroes for the work they do keeping our communities healthy,” said D’Esposito. “I am honored to count these brave nurses as neighbors here on Long Island, and I am so pleased that the public will get to learn more about their many contributions to the excellent health systems that serve the public here in New York’s 4th Congressional District.”
