New York State Senator Steve Rhoads expressed his initial impression on the 2024-2025 New York State Budget, highlighting his concerns about the allocation of resources. He criticized the budget, stating, "The 2024-2025 New York State Budget doubles down on solutions that don’t serve every day New Yorkers."

Rhoads further emphasized his disagreement with the approach of increased spending in the budget, asserting, "Spending more shouldn’t be our solution. If it were, we’d be the most successful state in the Nation because no state spends more than New York." He pointed out the negative outcomes of such budget decisions, including population loss, high taxes, and a poor business climate.

While acknowledging some positive aspects of the budget, such as opposing cuts to school foundation aid and making minor tier 6 fixes, Rhoads expressed disappointment in the overall lack of substantial relief for struggling families and businesses. He lamented the missed opportunities for transformative change within the state.

Committing to his role as a advocate for common-sense policies, Rhoads assured his constituents, "I delivered on my promise to you to be your fighter up in Albany and advocate for common-sense policies." He pledged to continue fighting for the needs of New Yorkers and striving for a better future for the state.

As the debate over the budget continues, Senator Steve Rhoads remains dedicated to pushing for reforms that address the concerns of everyday New Yorkers and work towards a more vibrant and prosperous New York.
