Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz (R,C-Oyster Bay) emphasized the importance of school bus safety measures during an Operation Safe Stop event hosted by the Jericho School District. Joined by various community leaders and stakeholders, Blumencranz highlighted the need to address concerns over student safety when traveling to and from school.
"Brainstorming safety measures for school buses and enforcing penalties for those who do not stop for them on the road are essential in protecting young students," stated Blumencranz. He further expressed, "Parents who utilize school bus transportation for their kids should not have to worry about their child potentially getting in an accident because a motorist failed to stop."
Blumencranz also stressed the significance of improving bus safety technology to prevent dangerous incidents involving stop-arm runners. He advocated for the installation of cameras to hold accountable any motorists who ignore stop-arms.
"I look forward to working with the Jericho School District and other LI districts to make our roadways safer for students—our children are our future," Blumencranz concluded.
