Republican State Senators in New York have recently unveiled a report aimed at addressing the rise of antisemitism in the state. Senator Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick from the 9th Senate District expressed her disgust at the increase in anti-Semitic incidents, stating, "I very proudly represent a district with a large population of Jewish constituents, and the idea that any citizen should feel threatened on the basis of their deeply held religious beliefs is sickening." Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick emphasized the importance of protecting Jewish individuals in New York.

Senator Jack Martins, the Chair of the Antisemitism Working Group, highlighted the significance of the report, stating, "This report is just the beginning of our attempt to address this hate-crime in meaningful, and thoughtful ways." Senator Martins stressed the need for collective action to combat antisemitism, urging higher educational institutions, the media, and elected officials to play a role in ending these crimes.

The working group has proposed five legislative initiatives to combat antisemitism in New York, including measures such as defining antisemitism within the state human rights law, implementing antisemitism awareness and prevention training in colleges, and prohibiting harassing conduct involving Nazi symbols. These initiatives aim to ensure the safety and protection of Jewish communities in the state.

The New York State Senate Republican Conference is dedicated to restoring public safety and protecting Jewish individuals from hateful acts of violence. Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick emphasized, "None of us should be living in fear. No individual should feel threatened or unsafe." The proposed legislative measures and dedicated funding are seen as crucial steps in safeguarding communities from antisemitic acts.
