D'Esposito Co-Sponsored and Supported the HALT Fentanyl Act on the House Floor

Washington, DC - On May 25, 2023, Congressman Anthony D’Esposito (NY-04), released the following statement on the bipartisan passage of the HALT Fentanyl Act which the Congressman co-sponsored and supported on the House Floor. The HALT Fentanyl Act would make permanent the temporary scheduling order for fentanyl related substances – a crucial tool in the fight against fentanyl related opioid overdoses. Additionally, this legislation would provide law enforcement personnel with the necessary tools to ensure dangerous illicit drugs are off America’s streets.

“There is not one community across this Nation that has been immune to the devastating effects of fentanyl. As an NYPD detective, I witnessed far too many American lives destroyed due to opioid addictions stemming from this horrific narcotic.  I have always been committed to fighting this scourge, and my longstanding Narcan community training courses have equipped over 10,000 Long Islanders with the tools needed to save the lives of neighbors experiencing a fentanyl overdose.  I am now continuing this battle as a Member of Congress where I proudly co-sponsored and voted for the HALT Fentanyl Act – crucial legislation designed to prevent Fentanyl from further infiltrating neighborhoods throughout our country.”
