Superintendent Letter to the Community - Threat From Neighboring School District

Dear Parents/Guardians:

We just received the following message from the Nassau County Police Commissioner.  Please note that the threat was made to a neighboring school district.  The Elmont Union Free School District DID NOT receive the threat.

Overnight the Nassau County Police Department became aware of an inappropriate Social Media post which contained a district specific threat.

NCPD Detectives are actively investigating the origin of this post in coordination with our Intelligence section and partner law enforcement agencies.

The impacted district has elected to operate in a lockout today. They have added additional security protocols and instruction will proceed as normal.

This morning NCPD provided enhanced presence at the specific schools mentioned out of an abundance of caution. We will continue to intensively patrol these locations.

The Nassau County Police Department is committed to maintaining a safe environment for our children to learn.

We encourage anyone with information on this case to contact NCPD Homeland Security at 516-573-9788.

Patrick J. Ryder

Commissioner of Police

As always, we strive to keep our students and staff safe.  This message is to keep our community informed.
