Cost of college went up for all students at Nassau Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.4 percent for 2018-19 at Nassau Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $5,880 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $248 more than the $5,632 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 91 percent more than residents this year, or $11,230. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 4.6 percent from $10,734 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents.

Data shows 76 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 2,268 students received grants or scholarships totaling $15.8 million and 532 students took out student loans totaling more than $2.5 million.

Including all undergraduates (17,406), 9,976 students used grants or scholarships totaling $60.7 million, and 2,772 students took out $14.3 million in federal student loans.
