On April 19, 2024, Mikulin expressed disappointment with the final state budget, stating, "This year’s final state budget is very disappointing. While Foundation Aid was restored to help support our public school districts, the final budget does not address New York state’s high cost of living and high tax burden. New York families deserve better."

Mikulin's remarks reflect concerns regarding the lack of sufficient measures in the budget to address the high cost of living and tax burden in New York state. Despite the restoration of Foundation Aid for public school districts, the overall budget fell short of meeting the needs of New York families.
