63 percent of applicants to Hofstra University were admitted for fall 2018

At Hofstra University, 96 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 55 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Hempstead enrolled 10,871 students in fall 2018, including 6,701 in undergraduate and 4,170 in graduate programs, data shows. 4.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

54 percent of undergraduates are residents of New York, and 40 percent are residents of other states. 5 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (55 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (12 percent).

The school admitted 63 percent of the 27,620 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 9 percent enrolled.
