Senator Jack Martins is spearheading a donation drive aimed at gathering essential school supplies for families in need within the local community. The initiative, known as the “Fill a Backpack Program,” seeks to collect new back-to-school items which will be distributed to the Youth and Family Counseling Agency of Oyster Bay-East Norwich and the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless.

Items requested include backpacks, binders, spiral notebooks, lunchboxes, pencil cases, and other necessary educational materials such as glue sticks, pens, rulers, colored pencils, and calculators.

Community members can drop off donations at several designated locations throughout the 7th Senate District. These include various public libraries such as Gold Coast Public Library in Glen Head and multiple branches of the Great Neck Public Library. Additional locations include Hillside Public Library in New Hyde Park, Jericho Public Library in Jericho, Manhasset Public Library in Manhasset, Mineola Memorial Library in Mineola, Port Washington Public Library in Port Washington, Roslyn-Bryant Public Library in Roslyn, Shelter Rock Public Library in Albertson, and Williston Park Public Library in Williston Park.

“Thank you in advance for your support!” reads a statement encouraging participation from local residents.
