Northwell Health has announced significant changes in nursing leadership at Plainview, Syosset, and Glen Cove Hospitals. Marianna Vazquez, RN, MS, NE-BC, will retire after a 51-year career as chief nursing officer (CNO) and associate executive director of patient care services at Plainview and Syosset Hospitals.
Vazquez’s career included various roles with increasing responsibilities since 1998 when she became the associate executive director of patient care services and CNO at Plainview and Syosset Hospitals. Her previous positions were at LIJ Medical Center, where she held numerous roles including assistant administrator for nursing in the adult and pediatric emergency departments.
Under her leadership, Plainview and Syosset Hospitals achieved Magnet designation for nursing excellence in 2022. “It has been a privilege to have chosen nursing as my career,” said Vazquez. “While much of my career has been in leadership, I have also had the privilege of working and caring for the caregivers who make a difference in patients’ lives.”
Theresa Dillman, DNP, MSN, MHA, RN, NE-BC will succeed Vazquez. Dillman has been with Northwell Health for 19 years in various roles starting as an emergency department nurse. She progressed through positions such as assistant manager of the ED at North Shore University Hospital before becoming director of patient care services at Lenox Hill Hospital.
“Every day, we have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our patients,” said Dillman.
At Glen Cove Hospital, Tameka Wallace will assume the role of CNO and associate executive director of patient care and perioperative services. Wallace previously served as associate executive director of peri-operative services at Glen Cove Hospital.
Wallace led initiatives that resulted in a 40% increase in operative volume over two years. “Nursing is more than a profession; it’s a calling to lead,” said Wallace. “My passion lies in elevating both patients and teams.”
