The New York Islanders recalled defenseman Isaiah George on Mar. 26 ahead of their upcoming game against the Dallas Stars.
George, age 22, has appeared in two games for the Islanders this season, playing on Jan. 24 against Buffalo and Jan. 26 against Philadelphia. During those appearances, he recorded one assist and averaged just over thirteen minutes of ice time per game.
While playing with Bridgeport in the American Hockey League this season, George accumulated seventeen points from two goals and fifteen assists across forty-five games. He also registered fifty shots on goal during that span.
Last season with the Islanders, the left-handed blueliner played thirty-three games, averaging nearly sixteen minutes per contest. He finished that stretch with five points from one goal and four assists, as well as thirty-four blocked shots and fourteen hits.
The recall provides additional depth to the Islanders’ defensive lineup as they prepare to face Dallas.
