Assemblyman John Mikulin (R,C-Bethpage) spoke at a press conference in Uniondale on August 15, 2025, addressing allegations against BWK President Nigel Joseph. Mikulin accused Joseph of exploiting his employees and referenced statements from U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton, who said that Joseph falsified records, including payroll documents, defrauded the public, and kept wages owed to his workers. These actions led to Joseph’s arrest.

At the event, Mikulin expressed support for Assembly Bill A.756-B. The bill aims to ensure that all school-related construction projects in Long Island follow fair labor practices and provide adequate support for workers involved in such projects, including those like BWK’s renovation work for the Uniondale Union Free School District.

Mikulin was joined by several state legislators—Senator Mario R. Mattera (R,C), Senator Steven D. Rhoads (R,C), Assemblyman Michael Durso (Massapequa Park), Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead), and Assemblywoman Michaelle C. Solages (D-Elmont)—as well as other local leaders, building trades representatives, and construction workers.

“Nigel Joseph unapologetically stole from his employees,” said Mikulin. “He must be held accountable. I am proud to stand with the Uniondale community to condemn his actions and voice our support for proposals that will prevent people like him from committing similar crimes in the future. New York workers deserve our support.”
