Assemblyman John Mikulin, representing Bethpage, has expressed his support for Assembly Bill A.8540, also referred to as the “Fentanyl Fathers and Mothers Act.” This initiative was discussed during a press conference in Albany on June 11, 2025. The bill aims to establish a Fentanyl Education, Awareness, and Recognition Program across all public, charter, and private schools in New York state for students from grades six through twelve.
Mikulin was joined by Greg Swan, Co-Founder of the Fentanyl Fathers Non-Profit Organization, along with members of the Assembly Minority Conference. They gathered to promote the bill that seeks to address fentanyl-related issues through education.
“The Fentanyl Fathers and Mothers Act is a common-sense proposal that will help save lives,” stated Mikulin. “I fully support the passage of this proposal to keep young New Yorkers well-informed about the risks of illicit substances like fentanyl.”
The act proposes a comprehensive educational program aimed at raising awareness among young students about the dangers associated with fentanyl use.
