Kyle Palmieri said on April 15 that his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is going well and he expects to be ready for the next season. Palmieri met with reporters on Wednesday morning to provide an update about his rehabilitation process.
Palmieri’s return is important for the team as he was sidelined after suffering the injury during a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on November 28. The expected recovery time was six to eight months, and Palmieri is now about four and a half months into his rehabilitation.
“Things are progressing well,” Palmieri said. “All signs point to having a healthy summer and getting myself ready for next season.”
He explained that he feels positive about his progress so far. “I’m a little over four months post op, so it’s feeling really good on the ice,” Palmieri said. “I’m looking forward to kind of putting this behind me and having a pretty normal summer as far as training and getting ready for the season.”
Before his injury, Palmieri had recorded 18 points, including six goals and twelve assists in 25 games this season. His last point came when he assisted Emil Heineman after stripping the puck from a Flyers defenseman during the same game in which he was injured.
Palmieri’s continued progress will be closely watched by both fans and team officials as preparations begin for training camp ahead of next season.
