The New York Islanders recalled defenseman Isaiah George and provided several injury updates ahead of their game against the Dallas Stars, according to a March 26 announcement.
The news comes as the team adjusts its lineup due to recent injuries, with decisions about player availability impacting tonight’s roster. The morning skate featured line changes and new defensive pairings in preparation for the matchup.
George, who was called up from Bridgeport, skated alongside Scott Mayfield during the morning session. “I feel like last time we played really well together,” George said of his pairing with Mayfield. “He makes it easy for me, he’s smart out there. He’s always in a good position and helps me out a lot.” George has appeared in two games for the Islanders this season and said, “It was good to play those two games to feel it out and see where I’m at. I’m just excited to be back. I feel prepared and ready to go.” In Bridgeport this season, he has recorded 17 points (2 goals, 15 assists) over 45 American Hockey League games.
Defenseman Ryan Pulock is listed as a gametime decision after missing two games with a lower-body injury. Head Coach Patrick Roy described Pulock as an “option” for tonight’s contest: if Pulock plays, George will be scratched from the lineup. Pulock has tallied 25 points (3 goals, 22 assists) through 67 games this season.
Tony DeAngelo is likely out of tonight’s lineup after leaving Tuesday’s game due to a lower-body injury; Roy said more information on DeAngelo’s status would be available later in the evening. DeAngelo has contributed five goals and 28 assists across 72 appearances this year.
Alexander Romanov returned to practice in a non-contact jersey for the first time since sustaining an injury on November 18 against Dallas. Roy commented on Romanov’s return: “I’m sure he’s excited,” Roy said. “It’s fun to see him out there, he had to work hard to get where he is today. It’s fun for the guys as well. I’m not saying he’s going to play tonight, but I’m sure he feels good to be with the boys.” Romanov has registered one assist over fifteen games played this season.
