Jesse Nurmi, a prospect for the New York Islanders, achieved his first career hat trick in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) while playing for the London Knights. Nurmi, selected by the Islanders in the fourth round of the 2023 NHL Draft, recorded four points (three goals and one assist) during a 6-1 win over the Erie Otters on Saturday. This performance extended his point streak to four games, totaling five goals and five assists.

Nurmi began his weekend by scoring London’s first goal in a 3-2 shootout loss to North Bay Battalion on Friday. His goal came just 40 seconds after North Bay took an early lead. In Saturday’s game against Erie, Nurmi’s first goal proved to be the game-winner and he also assisted on a power-play goal. He now has 15 points (eight goals and seven assists) in 12 games with London this season after starting the year in the ECHL.

Another Islanders prospect, Tomas Poletín, continued his strong play for the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League (WHL). Drafted by New York in 2025, Poletín has scored three goals and added an assist over his last three games, extending his own point streak to three contests. He contributed an assist in Kelowna’s victory over Red Deer Rebels and scored twice on the power play against Vancouver Giants. So far this season, Poletín has accumulated 33 points (19 goals and 12 assists) in 33 WHL games.

In collegiate hockey, Xavier Veilleux of Cornell University had a standout performance with three points—one goal and two assists—in a win over Brown University. Veilleux was drafted by New York in 2024 and currently leads all defensemen on Cornell’s team with 18 points through 21 games.

The report also provided updated statistics for several other Islanders prospects competing across Canadian junior leagues (OHL and WHL), European leagues such as Russia’s KHL and Sweden’s SHL, as well as NCAA teams.
