Assemblyman Ed Ra, who represents areas in Nassau County as a member of the New York State Assembly, posted several updates on his X (formerly Twitter) account in early February 2026.
On February 2, 2026, Ra shared a brief post: “Update. https://t.co/fs6pvxLKip https://t.co/CCV13CHCuJ”. Later that day, he acknowledged the annual tradition with a hashtag and image: “#GroundhogsDay https://t.co/6RRuEOE2pe”.
Two days later, on February 4, 2026, Ra posted support for the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team: “LFG @UConnMBB https://t.co/m81hU0tloc”.
Ed Ra has served in the New York State Assembly since first being elected in 2010. He is currently the Ranking Minority Member of the Ways and Means Committee and has also held roles as assistant minority leader pro tempore and ranking member of the Assembly Education Committee. His legislative focus includes transparency in state budgeting processes, anti-corruption measures, and public safety improvements (official biography).
A Long Island native living with his wife Laura and their shelter dog Carter, Ra holds degrees in computer science and law from Loyola College in Maryland and St. John’s University School of Law respectively. He previously worked as deputy town attorney for Hempstead and as a legal aide in the New York State Attorney General’s office before entering public service (official biography).
