Congresswoman Laura Gillen posted a series of messages on March 23, 2026, addressing a range of topics from sports achievements to public tragedies and healthcare policy.
In her first post, Gillen congratulated a college basketball team, writing: “Congratulations @StJohnsBBall on an amazing win against Kansas at the buzzer! On to the Sweet 16!” (March 23, 2026).
Later that day, she commented on an aviation incident in New York City: “I am devastated by the horrible crash at LaGuardia involving an Air Canada plane that killed two pilots and injured several passengers. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families at this time. I will continue to monitor this tragic situation as we learn” (March 23, 2026).
Gillen also marked the anniversary of major health care legislation in another message: “16 years ago, the Affordable Care Act was signed into law, expanding access to health care for millions of Americans and protecting those with pre-existing conditions. Now, ongoing threats to the ACA risk driving access to affordable care even farther out of reach. I will” (March 23, 2026).
The Affordable Care Act (ACA), enacted in March 2010 under President Barack Obama’s administration, has been a subject of political debate since its inception. The law aimed to increase health insurance quality and affordability while reducing uninsured rates across the country.
