Congresswoman Laura Gillen has recently highlighted her positions on issues affecting Haitian communities, graduate education, and public school support in a series of social media posts.
On February 4, 2026, Gillen reaffirmed her commitment to the Haitian community. She stated, “I’ve stood with our Haitian friends and neighbors in this fight and will do everything I can to ensure they can stay safely in the communities they call home. While Secretary Noem and the Administration are willing to abandon this community, I will not.”
Later that day, she addressed higher education concerns following a meeting with the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). In her post dated February 4, 2026, Gillen wrote: “Wonderful meeting with the @NAICUtweets on their annual Advocacy Day. We must continue investing in our graduate students and ensure they can afford the education they need for their future.”
Gillen also discussed educational funding at the K-12 level after engaging with members of the National School Boards Association (NSBA) representing Nassau County schools. On February 4, 2026, she posted: “It was great meeting with members of the @NSBAPublicEd who represent schools across Nassau County. It is critical that we invest in mental health programs that support the well-being of our students and teachers and increase funding to assist students with disabilities.”
Congresswoman Laura Gillen represents New York’s Fourth Congressional District. Her recent statements reflect ongoing debates over immigration policy regarding Haitian nationals as well as broader national discussions about access to higher education and mental health resources in public schools.
