Assemblyman Ari Brown and Assemblyman Jake Blumencranz, along with other legislators, welcomed Israeli Consul General Ofir Akunis to the New York State Capitol. The event took place on the Million Dollar Staircase and underscored the strong relationship between New York and Israel.

During a press conference, Assemblyman Brown emphasized themes of faith and unity. He stated, “Every morning, the Jewish people begin their day in prayer, thanking God for the gift of life.” He continued by expressing hope that a spirit of prayer, compassion, and mutual respect would be reciprocated by others as a means to build understanding and peace.

The gathering aimed to highlight several key goals. After the press conference, Assemblyman Brown joined his colleagues in presenting Ambassador Akunis with an official New York State Assembly Proclamation. Ambassador Akunis was also welcomed onto the Assembly floor for formal recognition.

Brown remarked on the significance of the occasion: “It was a tremendous honor to take part in today’s gathering,” he said. “Ambassador Akunis is a distinguished leader who represents the strength, resilience, and innovation of the Israeli people. His presence here in Albany sends a powerful message: New York stands with Israel—now and always.”
